Ranchero EV Pickup Truck What features do you hope the Ranchero EV might have? propower

I hope for something like Pro Power but actually able to charge more than some power tools. It's nice having the 3-prong AC outlet in the bed and in the cab, but without enough juice it would be limited. Hopefully the new electrical architecture could at least do a mini fridge.

My dream is V2L. The Lightning truck had it. What is Ford Home Backup Power?

I would buy the XLT LUX package like in my Maverick. Things I'd love to have (and I'm willing to pay for them)...

  • 360 camera
  • (daydreaming) A shorter two-door, extended-cab variant under 180 inches long
  • built-in navigation
  • super high tech interface - all the bells and whistles - I want to talk to my car
  • AWD for my steep driveway
  • I want to be able to buy the next gen BlueCruise. I'm 70. I want my truck to do the driving on the interstate.
  • Cloth seats. Please. With sugar on top.
  • all the nice features I have on my XLT LUX. The bed lighting. The load management system. Heated seats and steering wheel. As many safety features as I can buy. The spray in bedliner or a composite bed.
  • Memory seats and controls. So my 5-foot tall wife will be willing to drive it. If I could transplant the super comfortable cloth seats from my Mav, I would in an eyeblink. I love those seats.
  • I want a simple drivers display. Not some crazy over-the-top insanity like some OEMs have done. "Just the facts, ma'am"
I get that Ford is making a $30,000 base trim. I want the $35,000 or $40,000 XLT or better trim.

I reaaaally want a good Pro Power option. If there was a 240V PPO package, I'd get it for sure. It's not something I expect to need/use often, but it's a really handy piece of kit

There have been rumblings (probably complete BS) that the UEV pickup will have the same infotainment system across the board, akin to Tesla Model 3s & Ys, which have the same basic packaging, and that the difference in trims is more focused on battery size & performance/motor count.

I would quite like this approach, personally. I do get quite tired of legacy automakers nickel and diming for every creature comfort and option, often locking specific things into trim levels to get people to buy higher trimmed vehicles.

Absolutely a must. I use mine all the time, especially getting in/out of tight spots.

It would be nice to have a rear camera that also looks "up" too, not just "down", since you can't see tight spaces or other cars with rear bike racks easily. And, no, the rearview mirror isn't always available if you've got a load in the bed that blocks the view (or a foldable tonneau cover in the up position).

  • built-in navigation
I use CarPlay all the time, but it's nice to have an in-truck backup system. Also, it can show EV routing. (Yes I know CarPlay, Google Maps, and ABRP do routing.)

I just wish climate controls were buttons though. It sucks to take your eyes off the road just to adjust temperature or fan speed. Talking to the car to change those things feels weird.

  • AWD for my steep driveway
Definitely.

  • The spray in bedliner or a composite bed.
I've come to like the liner more than I thought I would. It adds a lot of grip and seems pretty tough.

  • Memory seats and controls
A very nice-to-have. I miss that often. The unsung feature is you can have "easy entry" for taller people: the seat returns to a farther back position when the driver's car door gets opened, then it scoots to your driving position when you turn on the car.

Speaking of "shorter stature", the Maverick's load-in height is just perfect. It's so easy for every day use. And when you pop in some cross support boards for sheet goods loads the height is more like an F-150.

  • I want a simple drivers display.
Agreed. I don't want to watch a video game when I'm driving. In fact, I turn off almost all the data stuff most of the time. Too distracting. It's easy to call up the stats like tire pressure or MPG by pressing the Mav's right menu buttons.

Besides, the big center screen has so much info.
