I personally prefer my phone to do the nav. It's nice to hop in the vehicle and it already has all my itinerary of my stops because Apple Maps reads your calendar. Also your favorite routes and destinations.
And when you hop in a rental car it's nice to have your digital world just pop back up.
There's not always a lot of extra room around charging stations since they're usually shoved into a corner of an existing parking lot.
Also, bike racks. You can't practically unload a rack, especially at a busy charger.
As a Maverick Hybrid Lariat driver, I can say the truck is very comfortable and the lane centering works great. Also don't forget the low load-in height which is great from everything from groceries to heavy hauling jobs.
I hope the midgate lock is really sturdy though. One of the main reason I got a Maverick is I don't want 800lbs of lumber joining me in the front seats. I feel better with a solid wall at the back of the cab.
Agreed. I literally just want EV motors and battery in the Maverick. The Mav does everything I need it to do right now and does it well. It's also comfortable for longer drives.
I sometimes miss this. But I definitely want a robust way to lock the door. One reason why I'm driving a truck now is because I want a solid metal wall between me and the payload. I travel highways with a lot of accidents.
Gotcha. I feel like front-right would have been better in that case because it would allow going head-in and be close to the cables.
Also, I felt your pain.
I happened to be near the San Francisco Rivian store and they had the new R2 on display. I think a lot of people are going to like this. (It doesn’t fit my needs, but it’s a good suburban car.)
What’s the problem with it being on the back left side? Because of towing things so you can’t back it in?
Most chargers have pretty long cables so I’m thinking it’s not so much of a problem. The other decent location would have been front right so it would also be curbside.
I do really hope the Slate does well. It seems like the right truck for people who have a lot of customized needs. It's going to be a great service truck for cities.
My biggest problem was to get the rear seats it would take up bed space. For me, as a cargo-carrying user, that deletes the...
Absolutely a must. I use mine all the time, especially getting in/out of tight spots.
It would be nice to have a rear camera that also looks "up" too, not just "down", since you can't see tight spaces or other cars with rear bike racks easily. And, no, the rearview mirror isn't always available...
I hope for something like Pro Power but actually able to charge more than some power tools. It's nice having the 3-prong AC outlet in the bed and in the cab, but without enough juice it would be limited. Hopefully the new electrical architecture could at least do a mini fridge.
My dream is...
I'm interested to see how the unicasting works out. Also, since it's an internal-facing component I guess that means the exterior updates might be easier.
There are standards around the plugs and charging protocols. But there aren't standards about plug location. Manufacturers make assumptions on where the charging infrastructure will be. e.g. Tesla expected people to back into spaces, EU manufacturers might assume curbside charging.
The most available chargers on the highway are the Tesla superchargers. Some of the newer ones have long cables (V4), but most of the older ones don't (V3). So you end up using two parking spaces because you use the cable intended for the other parking space.
The Mach-E (and many older EVs)...
